The State government on Tuesday recognized Manipal Hospital as an organ transplant centre empanelled under its Deen Dayal Swasthya Seva Yojana scheme.
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane informed that the decision was taken during a meeting with Ranjan Pai, the Chairman of Manipal Group, Abhay Jain and Dr Ballal from the Manipal Group.
Rane has also promised that the organ implant center would be empanelled under the ‘Deen Dayal Swasthya Seva Yojana’ scheme of the government.
Meanwhile, Rane also informed that he had discussed the status of the implementation of SOTTO (State Organ Tissue Transplant Organisation) at the meeting. “SOTTO is an initiative taken by the State government, which is currently in the final stages of forming governing and executive bodies. The same will be notified in another day or two,” Rane informed.
“Goa will soon have its own registry for deceased donor transplant programme,” Rane said, adding that patients in the final stages of kidney, liver and heart failures, and those with corneal blindness would benefit immensely.
