The revenue generated by Central Library has decreased to below 40 per cent in the year 2020-21 as compared to the year 2018-19 and 2019-20.
As per statements of revenue generated from different sections of state Central Library the year 2020-21 has fetched less revenue.
In the year 2018-19 the state Central Library has generated a revenue of Rs 11,97658 while in the year 2019-20 library has generated a revenue of Rs 12,77,005.
In both these years the revenue generated was on an average of 12 lakhs.
However in the year 2020-21 the revenue of just Rs 4,52,148 was generated which is below 40 per cent of the average revenue generated in earlier two years.
The Central Library earns revenue from reprography, book overdue and loss of books, new membership deposits, issue of duplicate cards, scanning of copies, internet browsing charges.
There is a newspaper and magazine section of the Central Library which is generating major revenue. This revenue will decrease in 2020-21.
There is a drastic decrease in new membership during the year 2020-21 so the fees collected had also decreased.
An average of Rs 7 lakh per year were the fees that were collected by the Central Library towards new membership in two years 2018-19 and 2019-20 which was reduced to just Rs 2.44 lakh in the year 2020-21.
Interestingly, the rare books and Goan history section revenue has remained constant in all three years which shows that researchers are constantly using the facility in the Central Library.
The children's section revenue towards internet browsing has decreased from over Rs 50,000 in the years 2018-19, 2019-20 to just Rs 3,900 in the year 2020-21.
