Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) president Manoj Parab, on Sunday, urged his party’s active members to brace for a fight ahead against what he called an onslaught by the ‘Delhi’ lobby on Goa’s land.
Parab was speaking at a convention of his party’s active members at Porvorim after a hiatus from political activity for over six months, following his loss in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from the North Goa constituency.
Apart from Parab, RGP’s lone MLA Viresh Borkar, its treasurer Ajay Arolkar, and general secretary Vishwesh Naik addressed the convention in a bid to reinvigorate their cadres after a politically lean period for the party post the Lok Sabha elections last year.
“Believe in yourself and the party’s ideology, and work towards safeguarding our land from the Delhi lobby,” Parab said in his address to the party cadres.
“We will have to be more active, dedicated, and committed to achieving the party’s objectives in the coming days,” Parab added.Parab meanwhile told a section of the media that they (party) had taken a break for the last few months to reflect on the mistakes made in building the party organisation and the lack of funds.
He said now they have started working and preparing for the next assembly elections with meetings started for this purpose.
Parab and others in the RG had been engaging in high-visibility campaigns on various issues after their nascent party garnered an impressive sub-12 percent vote share and the lone St Andre seat in the 2022 Assembly elections.
However following the Lok Sabha debacle last year, where Parab himself and its South Goa candidate finished with an extremely below par performance, the party and its leaders have been virtually absent from the political arena.
