Compassion FC’s star forward, Pearl Fernandes, was honoured with the Top Scorer Award at the 4th Inspire Cup All India Girls Under-17 Inter-Academy Football Tournament.
Held at the Anantapur Sports Academy in Andhra Pradesh, the tournament was organised by the Rural Development Trust (RDT) in collaboration with Fundación LaLiga.
Pearl showcased exceptional talent, scoring an astounding 23 goals in just five league matches. Her remarkable performance earned her the Highest Scorer of the Tournament title, solidifying her reputation as one of India’s brightest young football talents.
Compassion FC has a strong history in the Inspire Cup, winning the first two editions and finishing as runners-up in the third. In this year’s tournament, the team displayed commendable spirit, winning three matches but narrowly missing a podium finish after a hard-fought 3-1 loss to Bengaluru FC, a renowned academy which ultimately finished as runners-up to Narmada Valley FC, losing the final.
Team captain Prissy Pereira, along with players Zuriel Tavares and Amanda Dias, also shone brightly during the tournament, earning Player of the Match accolades for their outstanding contributions. Despite falling short of the finals, Compassion FC demonstrated their resilience and skill on the field, continuing to inspire young footballers across the country.
Speaking on Pearl’s achievement, Compassion FC’s coach Milton Fernandes remarked, “Pearl’s consistency and goal-scoring ability are phenomenal. She is a role model for aspiring players and an asset to our team.”
