A Revolutionary Goans member and Chimbel local Ajay Kholkar has filed a disqualification plea against a panch member of Chimbel panchayat, Gitatksha Badam accusing her of remaining absent consecutively for more than three ordinary meetings of the panchayat without leave of absence.
In his petition to the Tiswadi BDO, Kholkar has urged suo moto action against the panch as he cited that RTI replies indicate that the panch was absent consecutively for more than three fortnightly meetings last year.
“The BDO has told us that within the next two weeks she will be disqualified. The other panch members are also being watched closely by us. When we, the youth put up proposals, the sarpanch cites various sections and says it cannot be done. We will fight for the development of our village,” said Ajay.
Kholkar has further cited Section 12 (1) (b) which mentions on the vacation of the seat by members if a member of a panchayat absents himself for more than three consecutive ordinary meetings of the panchayat without the leave of the panchayat or is absent from the State for more than four consecutive months.
