The Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) has sought probe of the fire incident at Pilerne Industrial Estate under a retired High Court judge. It may be recalled that the Berger Becker Coating Pvt Ltd company caught fire on Tuesday.
RGP has submitted a memorandum to the North Collector seeking the probe, which should be submitted before the budget session of the Assembly.
Further, RGP has also demanded that the government should file FIR against the company for causing environmental pollution and also for threatening the lives of the workers, surrounding industrial units and businesses as also the people living in and around the industrial area.
In the memorandum, the party has also sought continuous monitoring and collection of ambient air quality data by the GSPCB, within 10 kms radius of the disaster, for a period of minimum one month.
Survey has also been sought by the Department of Preventive and Social Medicine on the impact of air pollution on the health of the residents living within 10 kms radius of the site.
A survey has also been sought from the Forest and Agriculture departments over the impact the fire incident had on wildlife and crops.
RGP has further demanded that the government must collect a compensation amount of Rs 100 crore from the company towards the direct and indirect damages caused by the mega disaster.
