A 23-year-old scooter rider died and a 19-year-old pillion rider was seriously injured in a self-mishap on the new Mormugao flyover on Sunday around 5 pm.
Satyam Patel, a carpenter’s assistant from New Vaddem, was riding the scooter rashly with pillion Sarvesh Patel when he lost control while descending the flyover.
Both, originally from Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, fell and sustained injuries.
They were rushed to Sub-District Hospital, Chicalim, where Satyam died during treatment.
Sarvesh was later shifted to Goa Medical College, Bambolim, for further treatment. Mormugao Police have registered an offence under Sections 281, 125(b), and 106(1) of BNS 2023.
