Rivers have risen to dangerous levels on account of heavy rains in Sattari taluka on Friday.
The levels of the rivers at Ragada, Mhadei, Velus and Valvanti rose sharply, prompting Sattari Deputy Collector Praveen Parab to caution that if rains were to continue, residents around the rivers would be put on alert.
The water level at the rivers in Golavali, Rive, Thane, Koparde, Charavane, Pali, Naneli, Hedode and Satode-Velus had also risen in the taluka.
Deputy Collector Praveen Parab, Mamledar Kaushik Desai, Joint mamlatdar Saish Naik, Shailesh Pokale, Assistant Engineer of Irrigation Department and other officials inspected the levels at the Velus river and took stock of the situation.
Emergency systems are currently in place to monitor the water levels at all rivers in the taluka.
“If needed, residents in the affected areas will be shifted to safer places by giving them advance notice,” said Parab.
