Family shifted due to landslide at Xeldem

SANGUEM

Heavy rains caused a landslide at Taki-Xeldem in Quepem and a family had to leave their house after mud from the landslide entered their house located on the foot of the hillock.

Quepem Mamlatdar Prataprao Gaonkar and his staff visited the site and directed the occupants of the house to temporarily shift elsewhere or to seek accommodation in the Rescue Centre arranged by the government.

Gaonkar also informed that as a precautionary measure and since heavy machinery could not be used under the prevailing circumstances, labourers would be deployed to remove the mud to prevent further landslides in the area.

Gaunkar also informed that earlier in the day, two families residing on the banks of the Kushawati river at Shirvoi were also directed to shift as the area was under threat of flood.

Gaunkar said he has directed the police to keep vigil in the area.
