A road roller worth around Rs 8 lakh was allegedly stolen from Chicolna, Bogmalo, in the early hours of Wednesday, prompting Vasco police to register a theft case.
According to a complaint filed by Suraj Phaldessai of Cuncolim, the incident occurred at around 7.30 am on August 12. The road roller, owned by Phaldessai, had reportedly been parked by the roadside when an unknown person allegedly used a hydra crane and trailer to remove it.
Phaldessai later found the road roller missing and approached Vasco police, who registered an offence under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Police are investigating the theft and trying to identify those involved. CCTV footage and other evidence are being examined to trace the stolen machinery and the vehicles allegedly used. Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Plato Carvalho of Vasco Police Station under the supervision of PI Vaibhav Naik and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
