Road work begins in Pernem

PERNEM: Environment Minister Rajendra Arlekar inaugurated the hot-mixing work of the 2-km road and sewerage management system at Bhironwada-Pernem on Thursday.

Speaking to reporters, Arlekar said the hot mixing work, estimated to cost about Rs 1 crore, was the long-pending demand of the residents. “The work is expected to be completed in February. This interior road in the town will be widened along with excellent sewerage management and hot mix,” he said.

Pernem Municipal Council (PMC) Chairperson Smita Kudtarkar expressed happiness as she inaugurated the first developmental work.

Vice-chairperson Upendra Deshprabhu said developmental works in the municipality will be taken up and appealed to all citizens to co-operate with PMC.
