Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) is helping World Zarathushti Chamber of Commerce-India organise its three-day annual conference at International Centre Goa (ICG), Dona Paula. The conference will commence on December 19 and is the first of its kind to take place in Goa. World Zarathushti Chamber of Commerce-India is a business and networking organisation of people of Zoroastrian community.

People belonging to Zoroastrianism faith are also known as Parsis and they are famous world over for their business acumen, which being the reason, GCCI is helping the cause of this conference in Goa so that it helps the State in getting some investments.

A source close to the development said, “Investment Promotion Board (IPB) will also be making a presentation at the conference. Besides, 4-5 local and multi-national companies (MNCs) based out of Goa are also expected to talk about their experience of doing business here. The best way to market a State for investment is to make satisfied entrepreneurs speak.”

It is also reported that there are around 100 Parsis in Goa, but they don’t have any forum as of now for networking. GCCI is also thinking of providing a forum to Parsis in Goa for the purpose.

Parsis have a long history of working with Goans in Mumbai. The upcoming conference would help them in taking their business relationship with Goa further by actually thinking of investing in the State. This conference comes at a time when the State government has increased focus on bringing industries to Goa by coming out with an investment policy last year and creating IPB. Besides, IPB recently got a full-time chief executive officer as well.

Goa hosts a lot of national business conferences but seldom ever does the State gets any benefits from the same. This is where GCCI should be commended for making an effort to bring this conference to Goa for the first time and giving Goa an opportunity to gain through networking with business people from World Zarathushti Chamber of Commerce-India.
