Deputy Speaker Joshua D’Souza has stated that hotmixing of roads would be undertaken in phases wherever the underground cabling work is complete and added that all roads in Mapusa would be tarred before the monsoon.
D’Souza was speaking to media persons after launching the hotmixing of roads in the Municipal area on Friday. The work started from Ward 6 in the presence of MMC Chairperson Priya Mishal along with Sushant Harmalkar, Vikas Arolkar, Barbara Martins, Kishori Korgaonkar, Pradip Narvekar and locals.
D’Souza stated Mapusa city is witnessing various developmental works.
“Underground cabling work is on and hence, many roads have been dug. The public is facing inconvenience for the past seven months. The tarring of the roads was not done because they were dug up, and we didn’t wish to waste the taxpayer's money,” said D’Souza.
“Angad is a low-lying area in Mapusa. The digging has to be done here after inspecting the groundwater level. Accordingly, the contractor has undertaken the project. If necessary, precautionary and remedial measures would be taken during the Milagres fest,” said D’Souza.
