Robber arrested at Bicholim

Bicholim Police arrested a man from Mapusa on charges of attempting to snatch the mangalsutra from a woman and pick-pocketing a villager from Bicholim.
According to Bicholim Police, the incident occurred during the Wednesday Bazaar at Bicholim late in the evening. Taking advantage of the crowd, the accused, Bilwandar Gosavi, attempted to snatch the mangalsutra from a woman, but the attempt was foiled as it got stuck in her clothes.
Police further informed that the accused succeeded in pick-pocketing cash of Rs 22,000 from Shankar Gaonkar from Bicholim, who had also gone to Wednesday Bazaar.
However, Bicholim PSI Mahesh Velip who was on patrolling duty in Bicholim market along with HC Santosh Gawade and other police constables saw the accused and nabbed him after a chase.
The accused has been remanded to judicial custody at Mapusa Police station.
