Margao police came under the scanner of citizens on Thursday after they failed to respond to a call when a bungalow was being burgled by miscreants at Amrutnagar late Wednesday night.
While the police were informed of the presence of the burglar inside the bungalow of Sidhanath Buyao at around 2.25 am, a police jeep came at the spot only at around 4.30 in the morning.
The incident occurred at around 2.25 am when Sidhanath’s mother informed him over the phone about the presence of burglars inside the house. “I immediately called up the Margao police hoping that the police will rush to the spot and help nab the culprits. But, there was no sign of the police. It was only at around 4.10 am when I called up Margao Town PI C L Patil, that a Margao police jeep arrived at my house at around 4.30 am," Sidhanath told the media.
“I do not know whom to blame for the laps. If the police had to rush to the spot, we would have been in a position to nab the culprits red-handed," he said.
The burglars are believed to have effected entry into the bungalow by removing the window grill. He is believed to have lifted away Sidhanath’s wallet containing cash, Aadhar cards and other documents, besides a cell phone. Sources said the miscreants also lifted a liquor bottle from the house.
The Margao police are conducting further investigations.
