Rohan Kavlekar was on Wednesday elected unopposed as chairperson of Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC).

At the special meeting convened to elect the new chairperson, presiding officer Shripad Arlekar declared Kavlekar elected as chairperson as only one nomination was filed for the post. Chief Officer Clen Madeira and all the councillors were present for the meeting.
The post of the chairperson had fallen vacant after former chairperson Sandeep Falari resigned from his post.
Speaking to reporters, Kavlekar said more development projects will be undertaken in Mapusa city once the ongoing projects are completed. “The work of laying sewerage pipeline is about to complete and once completed, the beautification works in Mapusa city will be undertaken,” he added.
