In reply to a question tabled by Leader of Opposition Chandrakant "Babu" Kavalekar, PWD Minister Ramaksrishna Sudin Dhavalikar informed the House during the last week that the work for maintenance of water carriageways at Goa Medical College and Hospital and Goa Dental College was awarded to by M/s Deshpande Constructions. This was the single bid secured for the work and an amount of Rs 1,69,48,610 has been paid from January 2014 till date for the same.
"In case of shortage of water supply, the same is catered through water tankers. PWD is responsible to supply water up to the Sump of GMC. GSIDC is responsible for maintenance of water supply network to GMC," the minister's reply said.
It was further disclosed that the theoretical water requirement of GMC is about 587 cu.mts per day.
On an average, about 800 to 900 cu.mts per day is supplied to GMC.
Rs 1.69 cr paid for maintenance of water lines
The State government has paid an amount of Rs 1.69 crore for the maintenance of water carriageways at Goa Medical College and Hospital and Goa Dental College, Bambolim over the last three and half years.
