Mormugao Police on Tuesday recovered gold worth about Rs 3 lakh, which was stolen by
the accused, Gracy Velho, after allegedly committing the murder of Rukmini Tanse.
According to sources at Mormugao police, the accused after committing the murder on June 10 removed the gold which Tanse was wearing and also stole other gold ornaments from the cupboard.
Later, Velho dug a pit outside her house at Bharat Line Colony and buried the gold ornaments. During interrogation, Velho confessed having committing the theft and also disclosed that she hid the gold ornaments in a pit outside her house.
Sources further informed that Velho was taken to her house on Tuesday morning, where she disclosed the area and the police recovered the stolen gold.
When contacted, Mormuigao PI Kapil Nayak said the police recovered a gold chain, a ring, earring, bangles, bracelets and other gold items, all worth about Rs 3 lakh. PI Nayak is investigating the case.
