Terming the allegations levelled by the Cuncolim MLA as false and malicious, the ruling group said the MLA has no right to insult the Chief Officer by holding a media conference and demand his transfer. "The local MLA Clafacio Dias, who just secured 1,400 votes out of 10,500 votes from the Cuncolim Municipal area has no right to insult the Chief Officer by taking a press conference and demand his transfer since he is performing well in public interest, especially for the welfare of Cuncolim citizens. By demanding his transfer, the opponents and frustrated elements want to block the progress and development of Cuncolim Municipal area," the memorandum submitted by the ruling body stated.
While strongly condemning the false propaganda against the efficient Chief Officer, the ruling group claimed that the MLA had brought along with him to the treatment plant site supporters, who were unruly and abusive in their behavior and insulting the Council members and Chief Officer.
On the progress of ongoing work at the waste treatment plant, the delegation led by the CMC Chairperson said the civic body is trying to cover lost ground during the last two months with both treatment and bailing machines, smoothly functioning now.
"Segregation and collection of door-to-door waste was in full swing in all the 12 wards before the work at the GWTP was stopped by the labour contractor since October 1. After two months of stoppage of work, bailing is now at full speed," the memorandum added.
