Friday’s LPG cylinder blast dominated the proceedings of the gram sabha meeting of the Rumdamol village panchayat on Sunday.
Expressing concern over the cylinder blast and the difficulties encountered by the fire brigade to reach the spot, the gram sabha has demanded immediate action to clear the main village road from the encroachments.
The gram sabha members also demanded action against business establishments carrying out the activity without the panchayat’s permission after it came to light that the hotel was conducted in the premises without permission.
The members demanded that the panchayat conduct a survey of the road encroachments by involving the traffic police.
Ruling panchayat member Saimulla Fanibandh later told the media that the panchayat would soon carry out an encroachment drive to clear the road from the encroachments. He said action would be initiated against the businesses which are being carried out without permission and without adhering to fire safety norms.
