The South Goa Sessions Court has imposed stringent conditions on applicants seeking anticipatory bail in connection with the communal tension and clashes at the Rumdamol Housing Board last week.
While granting anticipatory bail, Additional Sessions Judge Vincent D’Silva directed the applicants not to visit the village of Rumdamol for a period of 15 days from Thursday and cooperate with the investigations.
That’s not all. Judge D’Silva has directed the applicants to report to the Investigating officer for a period of one month between 10 am to 1 pm and 3 pm to 6 pm. Thereafter, the applicants have been directed to report to the investigating officer once a week between 10 am to 1 pm till the filing of the charge sheet.
In identical, but separate orders, the Court has directed that the applicants be released on bail upon furnishing personal bond of Rs 20,000 with one surety in the like amount to the satisfaction of the investigating officer, in the event of the arrest.
The Maina Curtorim police had registered two separate FIRs in connection with the communal clashes that took place at the Rumdamol Housing Board on Sunday noon. The Court granted anticipatory bail to the father-son duo of Jayesh and Om Naik, against whom the Maina Curtorim police had registered offenses under section 295-A, 504, 506(ii), 324, 427 read with 34 of the IPC.
The police had also registered FIR against Saifal Khan and others in connection with the assault on Jayesh Naik and son Om.
The Maina Curtorim police had vehemently opposed granting of anticipatory bail to the applicants on the plea there’s a history of communal tension in the locality since the last several years and that the police were being deployed in the area as a precautionary measure.
