Tax payers continued to make a mad rush to the Margao Municipal Council for the payment of house tax and garbage fees, besides trade licence and construction licence fees.
In fact, if around 450 tax payers stood in a queue to pay the house tax and garbage fees on Day 1 on Monday, the situation was no different on Tuesday.
If officials are to be believed, close to 500 tax payers turned up on Day 2 of tax payments at the Margao Municipal tax counter to pay the taxes in the new financial year.
Sources informed that revenue to the tune of Rs 9 lakh was earned by the civic body by way of house tax and garbage fees on Day 2. Similarly, the total revenue collected by way of trade licence and construction licence was pegged around Rs 6 lakh, taking the amount of taxes collected by the civic body in the first two days of the new financial year to Rs 30-odd lakh.
Tuesday saw the civic body deploying a security personnel at the tax payment counter to regulate the queue as hundreds of tax payers made a beeline to clear their taxes.
