Gas consumers seen gathering in large numbers to purchase LPG cylinders in Valpoi.
VALPOI
Rumours about a possible shortage of domestic LPG cylinders in the State have created panic among citizens in Valpoi, with a large number of customers rushing to purchase domestic gas cylinders over the past two days.
However, officials of the gas agency have clarified that there is no need for panic and that the stock of cylinders is sufficient.
Customers have been flocking to the Indian Gas Agency operating in Valpoi since the last two days to purchase cylinders. From morning until late evening, people have been standing in long queues in an attempt to obtain cylinders, causing considerable inconvenience to many customers.
When contacted regarding the situation, Indian Gas Agency manager Vilas Sawant stated that the Valpoi warehouse currently has an adequate stock of cylinders and there is no reason for customers to worry.
He further clarified that some customers are unnecessarily creating confusion, while others are arriving to collect cylinders even before their scheduled refill date. According to the rules, cylinders can only be issued after the due date, but some consumers are still making attempts to obtain them earlier.
The agency serves a large number of customers across Sattari taluka and cylinders are generally supplied through home delivery. However, due to the present international situation, confusion has spread among consumers, prompting many of them to visit the gas agency directly to purchase cylinders.
Meanwhile, a significant number of consumers in Sattari taluka are also customers of HP Gas. They too receive cylinders through home delivery. However, some customers have reported difficulties in booking cylinders through mobile phones. According to them, when they attempt to book cylinders through the mobile application, the booking process fails.
