Canacona
South Goa MP Viriato Fernandes will be making his first public visit to Canacona today. The Congress party has organised this visit to allow local residents to share their concerns and seek resolutions.
In an appeal, ex-GPCC General Secretary Janardhan Bhandari said, “MP Captain Viriato Fernandes is visiting Canacona tomorrow, Monday (12/05/2025), to meet the people and understand their issues. We encourage the people of Canacona, especially members of the Canacona Congress Parivar, to meet him and share their concerns. Please feel free to speak about any challenges you’re facing, as the MP is here to help resolve them. Try to meet him at your convenience according to the schedule made public.”
District Congress (South) Organisational Secretary Gaspar Coutinho and Canacona Congress Block President Abel Tome Borges have also made similar appeals on social media and in the media. Block President Borges even took the extra step of announcing the visit through loudspeakers across various parts of the constituency.
According to MP Fernandes’ schedule, he will meet with people from Agonda and nearby areas at Bhurm Hall at 10:00 am, followed by a visit to Palolem near the Palolem Youth Club at 11:00 am. At 12:00 pm, he will garland the statue of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at the KTC Bus Stand and visit St. Theresa Church in Chaudi. By 12:30 pm, the MP will visit Shri Mallikarjun Temple, and at 1:00 pm, he will meet constituents at Shristha Panchayat Hall.
The MP will continue his tour with visits to Loliem-Polem Panchayat at 3:00 pm, Poinguinim Panchayat at 4:00 pm, Gaondongrim Panchayat at 5:00 pm, and Khotigao Panchayat at 6:00 pm.
While this is not the MP’s first visit to the Canacona constituency, it is the first time since his victory in the Lok Sabha elections that Capt. Fernandes will be engaging with the local community to address their grievances.
“Make the most of this opportunity to voice your concerns and share your difficulties,” appealed Block President Borges.
