Three Three music concerts, under the baton of Fr Romeo Monteiro, to meditate on the Sacred Mystery of the Incarnation of Our Lord using the medium of music and song, enthralled audiences and music lovers at Penha de França, Nagoa-Verna and Old Goa between March 19 and 25.
Following demands from music lovers, there will be a free music concert at Immaculate Conception Church, Panaji on April 14 at 7 pm.
The concert at the Penha de França Church on March 19 was attended by the Ambassador of the Holy See to India, the Apostolic Nuncio, His Excellency Leopoldo Girelli, who remarked publicly, in his speech, that the performance was of an extremely high level.
The second performance in the Nagoa-Verna Church on March 22 was attended by a packed church, who widely appreciated in the sublime music that flowed.
Cardinal-Patriarch Filipe Neri Ferrão, was present for the third show at Santa Monica Convent Church (Old Goa) on March 25.
In his address, Cardinal Ferrão praised the singers and musicians for preparing such a wonderful delight of music for the listeners. The third concert was ticketed as a fund-raiser for the Museum of Christian Art.
“Following the success of the three music concerts, many music lovers, especially in and around Panaji, have asked us to have a repeat performance. So, we have decided to have a free music concert at Immaculate Conception Church, Panaji on April 14 (Friday) at 7 pm,” said Fr Monteiro.
The choral troupe, backed by an orchestra, will render 12 sublime choral compositions of this invocation that were set to music by composers down the ages, in various languages and traditions.
All 66 participants are lovers of sacred music and have volunteered to come together to present their musical reflections for the benefit of the faithful and other lovers of music.
