Former Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) Chairperson and BJP loyalist Kritesh Gaonkar, has been appointed as Vice Chairman of Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL).
Gaonkar, who took charge as the KTC Vice Chairman on Monday, was appointed vide a notification issued by Transport Director Rajan Satardekar in pursuance to Article 68 read with article 76 of the Articles association of KTCL and in supersession of earlier notifications of the reconstitution of the board of directors of KTC.
Sources claim that Gaonkar has been rewarded by the Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho for being his close and loyal supporter.
“Gaonkar, who was the MMC Chairperson, could not contest civic elections after the reservations changed the equations and the wards represented successfully by Gaonkar were reserved for OBC and women,” said the source.
“A livid Gaonkar then decided to get his friend Leo Rodrigues, who was a councillor from a ward in Baina of Mormugao constituency, to contest in his ward of Dabolim constituency.”
“Gaonkar who had a good rapport with citizens promoted the candidature of Rodrigues and got him elected in his ward. Being close to Godinho, Gaonkar later got Rodrigues in the Godinho camp and Rodrigues is the present MMC Chairperson as Godinho’s candidate,” said the source.
