Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha was present for the gram sabha, while Sancoale Sarpanch Girish Pillai and other panchas also attended the first gram sabha after the panchayat election.
The gram sabha members demanded signboards on the roads and entry of
wards with historic names, abolishing of the
name Zuarinagar and replacing it with Sancoale and assessment of all the structures in Sancoale.
"Assessment of industries and institutions should be taken up on top priority, as it causes loss to the tune of crores of rupees to Sancoale Panchayat, as they still pay house tax on lumpsum basis," said Narayan Naik.
The villagers also demanded the inspection of all the mega projects in the area for garbage treatment plant, sewage treatment plant and water harvesting.
Another major issue raised was the vigilance enquiry through ACB on all the expenditure done by a former panchayat secretary.
