A 35-year-old man was found murdered at an isolated spot in Sancoale near Meta Strips on Tuesday morning but the Verna police managed to crack the case and arrest the accused involved in the heinous murder within hours of the incident.
According to information from sources, the deceased has been identified as Sanjay Yadav (35) , a resident of Zorint Zuarinagar and a casual worker at a scrapyard.
" We got information that a body was lying buried in a construction debris at an isolated location opposite the Meta Strips company in Sancoale . Locals have claimed that the accused and deceased are related and that the motive of the murder is yet to be established but could be linked to an illicit relationship .
Verna police immediately rushed to the site upon information and after primary investigation suspected it to be a case of murder. Verna police later also immediately based on specific and human intelligence detained the accused involved in the crime.
The accused has been identified as Kanhayya Lal Yadav (33 ) , a resident of Zorint and native of UP who hit the deceased on his head with a hard object and committed the murder on Monday night . The accused is believed to have dumped the body in the hilly area near Meta Strips thereby trying to destroy the evidence . Verna police is carrying out further investigation, " said the source.
Verna police has registered the case of murder under section 302 and 201 IPC and PI Diago Gracias is carrying out further investigation under the supervision of Mormugao DySP Salim Shaikh.
