In a bid to clear the waste being dumped along the banks of a rivulet at Sancoale, some villagers along with the Sancoale Panchayat cleaned some parts of the village on Sunday.
Led by Dr Subir Sansgiri, the villagers along with Sarpanch Ramakant Borkar removed the garbage and solid waste.
Later, speaking to The Goan, Borkar said henceforth all the waste except wet waste will be collected by the panchayat twice weekly.
“We want to rid Sancoale of garbage and I call upon all the people including migrants not to dispose the waste but to make it available at the designated points for the panchayat contractor to collect the waste,” Borkar told The Goan.
Meanwhile, speaking to The Goan, some villagers also expressed concern over the late night outs by some at Sancoale Bandolem and other places.
“They party sometimes with loud music and dump liquor bottles in the lake,” a villager told The Goan.
The issue was also raised at Sancoale gram sabha with the sarpanch assuring the villagers to write to Verna Police to ensure that no nuisance is caused anywhere in the village especially during late hours of the night.
