Sanguem JMFC convicts man for causing fatal accident

SANGUEM

Judicial Magistrate First Class at Sanguem convicted one Dinesh Redkar of Shigao in connection with the death of a scooter rider.

In its order, the JMFC sentenced the accused till rising of the court for an offence punishable under section 304A by giving the accused the benefit of the Probation of Offenders Act and also directed the accused to pay compensation of Rs 5,000 to the kin of the deceased within a period of two months or in default to undergo simple imprisonment of three months.

The incident is reported to have taken place on March 29, 2019, when the accused drove his car in a rash manner and on reaching Tahir Garage at Dhadem-Sanvordem dashed the car against a scooter proceeding towards Guddemol.

The scooter rider, Durgaprasad Shukla (58) of Baagwada-Sanvordem sustained head injuries and he later passed away at GMC hospital.

The court, after going through the evidence led by State and represented by APP Sanford Fernandes, held the accused guilty of offences as charge-sheeted by Curchorem Police and accordingly sentenced the accused under Sections 279 and 304A of IPC.
