A chemist and an accountant at the Sanjeevani Sakhar Karkhana have been suspended after an audio clip of a phone conversation between an officer and a contractor, alleging that the officer had taken a bribe to manipulate tenders in the auction of sugar, had gone viral. The conversation pertained to a staff asking a former bidder over the tendering process and the former bidder alleged that he had paid Rs 15 lakh to a person.
The former bidder also alleged that a senior official had also taken a bribe. However, it is not clear when the conversation between the staffer and bidder had taken place. It was also not clear as to which against senior official was accused of the bribery allegations. After the audio clip went viral, a group of farmers gathered at the Sanjeevani Sakhar Karkhana had demanded action in the matter. They had also demanded the suspension of the accountant in the matter.
