At least three houses and a car were damaged, when trees came crashing down in different parts of Sattari on account of heavy rains and strong winds across the taluka in the last 24 hours.
According to the Valpoi Fire Station, a tree fell on the house and car belonging to Mahesh Tambat of Honda, causing a loss of about Rs 5 lakh.
Tambat said that a mango tree in front of his house suddenly fell on his car which was parked outside his house, damaging the car and a portion of his house.
Elsewhere, a tree fell on a house in Pissurlem and damaged the structure, while a tree came crashing down on a house near Mafia Building in Nuha Colony, Sattari.
The fallen trees were later cleared by firefighting teams led by Dattaram Desai and Mahadev Gawade.
A number of roadside trees also fell down due to strong winds, disrupting traffic at many places around the taluka. The Valpoi fire station attended to a number of calls and cleared the fallen trees from the roads, restoring traffic later in the day.
