After being hit by water shortage for several days, a number of villages linked to the Dabose Water Treatment Plant (WTP) are expected to get water supply by Tuesday evening.
Sources have said two of the four pumps, which have been sent for repairs, are expected to be back at the WTP by Tuesday evening. According to locals, the WTP developed an electrical fault on Thursday, affecting water supply to about 70% of villages in Sattari Taluka.
The water supply department then supplied water through tankers, but many people complained of hardships in getting potable water. Speaking to reporters, Thane Panch Nilesh Parwar complained that people had been facing acute water shortage since Thursday. “Due to acute water shortage, people were forced to collect water from nearby rivers which are polluted and there could be health issues,” said Parwar.
The fault at the WTP had been repaired and operations had been restored late Friday evening. However, a power failure on Saturday disrupted water supply yet again and
