Many parts of Sattari taluka had to face inconvenience of water shortage for the last two days due to an electrical fault at the Dabose water treatment plant on Thursday. It is expected that by Saturday afternoon the fault will be rectified .  A valve suddenly burst as a result of which water fell on the electrical panel causing a short circuit. Valpoi PWD officials rushed to the spot and undertook repair work on Thursday evening but could not complete it till Friday afternoon.

Presently, the electrical problem has been resolved but water is leaking heavily from the main pipeline valve. “Our officials are on the job and hopefully work will be completed by Saturday,” one of the officials told this reporter.

Sixty per cent of villages are facing drinking water problem during Chaturthi. Some of the villages managed to get tanker water, but still this too hasn’t been enough.

Another official of the department said that it was an unusual incident.
