Even as the suspense over the BJP North Goa ticket for the Lok Sabha continues, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has given pointers that it could be allotted to the Union Minister of State for Tourism (MoS), Shripad Naik.
Speaking at the birthday celebration function of Naik at his residence at Sao Pedro-Old Goa on Wednesday, Sawant urged the people to give MP Naik one more opportunity to serve them.
“Naik is one among only the three ministers to serve under both the Vajpayee and Modi governments and Goans should give him one more opportunity to serve them,” Sawant said.
However, later when The Goan questioned Sawant whether his statement meant that the North Goa Lok Sabha ticket is confirmed for MP Naik, he did not offer any comments.
Meanwhile, Sawant heaped praises on Naik for his immense contribution for the State while listing out his achievements during his tenure as MP.
“Those who say that Bhau has done nothing, they should visit the Ayush Institute in Dhargal which is a one of its kind institute in the country. Also, the water sports institute at Dona Paula was the brains of Bhau and it will be opened shortly,” Sawant stated, while also lauding the efforts of Naik in various other developmental projects in the State.
“Bhau had a big hand in the development of Goa as he always contributed towards all projects,” the CM stated.
BJP general secretary Damu Naik also praised Bhau for his humble personality and also gave hints that Naik could get the ticket.
“He is in politics for 40 years be it as panch, sarpanch, MLA and 25-years as MP. And he will continue to work for Goa in the next five years,” Naik stated.
Speaking on the occasion, GCCI President Shrinivas Dempo hailed Bhau for being a man who has no enemies and also wished him the best in winning the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
