Stating that the government is stable Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday said that restarting mining, streamlining administration, Mhadei water dispute are the priorities of the government.
Sawant was speaking to media after the four newly-elected representatives took oath as members of the Goa legislative Assembly.
He said pre-monsoon works which were pending due to election code will be completed as fast as possible.
On the alliance partners, he said there will not be any moves to drop anyone from the ministry though his party’s strength had increased with three new members after the bypolls.
Confident that the government would complete its full term, Sawant said his administration along with alliance partners including Goa Forward Party and Independents will provide good governance.
With the results in the four bypolls, the strength of the House is back to 40. BJP’s numbers have increased from 14 to 17. Beside, it has support of 3 Goa Forward MLAs and 3 Independents.
The opposition Congress has 15 members. Beside there is one each from MGP and NCP.
Sawant said he now enjoys support of 24 MLAs including one from MGP which has not yet withdrawn support. “If MGP continues to give unconditional support to the government, why should I ask them to withdraw?” chief minister said responding to a question.
Even NCP’s Churchill Alemao can support our government, CM said in lighter vein.
Speaking further, Sawant said the State cabinet meeting will be held on June 4. This would be the first cabinet meeting to be chaired by Sawant, as he was sworn in when Model Code of Conduct was in force.
Meanwhile, newly-elected BJP legislator Subhash Shirodkar said his priority will be to get Rs 50 crore for development works in Shiroda. He said he will try to solve water, electricity problems from his constituency.
Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza said his priority will be to complete the Mapusa bus stand project while Sopte said he will work for development of his constituency.
