in Lok Sabha polls?
Goa Forward supremo Vijaibab's stand that the regional outfit will not contest the 2019 Lok Sabha election may not come as a surprise for many. For, the Goa Forward is a member of the BJP-led NDA and Vijaibab cannot afford to antagonise the ruling combine if he has plans to stay put in the Manoharbhai Parrikar-led coalition government. But, what the Goa Forward supremo has not announced till date is whether he would join and support the BJP campaign to retain the South Goa Lok Sabha seat in 2019. It's still unclear whether he would share the dais with the saffron brigade or will he be content in staying at home and observing the political battle from the Davondem bandh. Questions are also being asked in political circles whether Vijaibab would have no problem if the BJP take a huge lead in Fatorda in the Lok Sabha poll. Only time will tell.
Aleixo still the talking point
Former Congress heavyweight Aleixobab Sequeira might have announced his political retirement after a section of Congress leaders scuttled his prospects of getting the party ticket on the eve of the 2017 Assembly election. Aleixobab's contribution to the party, in terms of the spacious offices he had arranged for the Congress in Margao and in the North, is still the talking point in Congress circles. Incumbent GPCC leadership headed by Shantarambhau, sources said, too appears very much impressed over Aleixobab's contribution to the party, so much so the party leadership has now proposed to honour the former Power Minister in the first week of November for his contribution to the party. Wait and watch as the Congress plans to honour Aleixobab tentatively on November 6 in Panaji.

It was a week when Luizinhbab roped in Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) Chairman Dipak Pawaskar to complete the pending projects in Navelim. Luizinhbab's decision assumes significance and comes against the backdrop of Avertanbab's request to Chief Minister Manoharbhai sometime back, seeking his help and assistance to complete the pending projects in Navelim. Avertanbab, however, says he has no problem if the GSIDC Chairman was invited to Navelim to inspect the pending projects and get them completed at the earliest. And, he says the projects will at least keep the local politicians from Navelim busy, while reminding that the projects were initiated by the BJP government during the last five years. How's that?
Damu not ready for sanyas yet
BJP's Damubab was again in the news this week, this time in connection with the Dindi programme organised by the Dambabalem Ghodem, the organisation he has been closely associated for a decade now. The former two-time BJP MLA might be keeping low profile and is not seen much at government programmes and functions, but Damubab has been active in party work and in the social field as he prefers to maintain keeping a regular touch with friends, well-wishers as well as party workers. The former BJP MLA was amongst the host of politicos who made it to the Holy Spirit Church a week ago to congratulate Parish Priest Fr Avinash Rebello on the golden jubilee of his Priestly ordination. And, Damubab seemed to have no plans to take political sanyas in the near future.

Was Goa Forward supremo Vijaibab really interested in the Khadi and Village Industries Board, a position he is now ready to surrender to the coalition partner, MGP? No, not really, it seemed. Sources say that Vijaibab had staked claim for the Khadi Board to ensure that Goa Forward senior leader, late Monicabai Dias, returns to the Board saddle after a gap of five years. Given that Monicabai had the experience as well as the enthusiasm to head the Khadi Board and take the schemes to the people, it was Vijaibab who had staked claim for the Khadi Board before Manoharbhai issued the notification appointing Monicabai as the Board's chairperson. Sources say that after Monicabai's sad demise, Vijaibab appears no longer interested in the Khadi Board, so much so he has conveyed to Manoharbhai that he would not mind if the Board position is taken back and handed over to the MGP.
