The matter of the Mahadayi Bachao Abhiyan (MBA) came up for hearing before Justice Madan Lokur and Justice Deepak Gupta in the Supreme Court on Thursday.
In a press note issued by the Mahadayi Bachao Abhiyan, in Intervention Affadavit (IA) 1804 of 2007 and IA 2526 of 2009 of MBA, the Karnataka government had asked for one week's time to give up-to-date reply of the specific events that had transpired for the last 9 years, from February 2009 till date. As the Karnataka government failed to reply, one week's time was given to reply, on July 31.
The lawyer representing Karnataka government, Adv Fali Nariman said the prayers in Mhadei Water Dispute Tribunal and Mahadayi Bachao Abhiyan are the same. The next hearing of Supreme Court in MBA matter is listed on August 14, the MBA added.
