SCERT SET TO ASSESS STUDENTS ON LEARNING OUTCOMES UNDER NAS

State Council for Educational Research and Training (SCERT) is all set to assess Goan students on learning outcomes under the National Achievement Survey (NAS) 2017, on November 13.
This survey in the form of an assessment of students of standard III, V and VIII will be carried out through a two-hour long test paper comprising of subjects - Maths, Science and Social Science and language (whichever is the medium of instruction).
As far as standard III and V are concerned, the test paper would consist of 45 questions; while that of standard VIII would consist of 60 questions.
About 250 government and government-aided schools would be assessed for each class. The samples of students and schools would be selected through the research sampling method.
Speaking to The Goan Everyday, SCERT Director Nagraj Honnekeri informed, "NCERT has suggested pedagogical processes for teachers and learning outcomes in all subjects for students upto Standard VIII and disseminated to all states. The same have been implemented in Goa since the current academic year. The test is basically conducted to assess the implementation of learning outcomes."
Speaking further, Honnekeri informed that the questionnaire would comprise of questions that are age-appropriate. Secondly, Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheets would be used for answer sheets for standard VIII.
