A fight among friends ended in murder after one was killed and the other got injured at Bandarwada-Bicholim on Monday.
According to reports, the incident took place as Rameshwar Wadkar of Gaonkarwada-Bicholim and Arun Parab had entered into an argument about a week ago.
The two met again in the Bicholim market on Sunday and picked up a bottle of liquor.
Sometime between 10.30 pm and 11 pm, they were proceeding home when an argument and scuffle broke out between them at Bandarwada.
Wadkar is alleged to have struck Parab with a stone on his head and both fell on the ground.
Parab later succumbed to injuries and some passers-by noticed the body late at night and notified the police.
A Bicholim police team went to the site and took custody of the body, while the accused was admitted to a hospital with injuries he is reported to have sustained during the fall.
The police took Wadkar into custody and during interrogation, the accused is reported to have admitted to the crime.
On Monday, North Goa SP Shobhit Saxena visited the Bicholim police station along with DySP Sagar Ekoskar to take stock of police investigations.
The accused has been arrested under Section 302 of IPC and Bicholim Police Inspector Mahesh Gadekar is investigating the case.
