John had promised his mother to build a house

John had promised his mother to build a house

MARGAO

Like many a young Goan, who dream of making it to the Land of Opportunity, young Chandor lad, John Dias too made it to the USA three years ago.

Coming up in life the hard way, John had promised his mother to build a small house for them to stay in as they are presently putting up in a rented space at Chandor.

In fact, John has not returned home since he set his foot on American soil three years ago but has been in close touch with his mother over the phone.

Mother Inacinha had called up John over the phone to inquire about him on Sunday, but he had promised to call her back on Monday morning since he was busy with work before the tragic news came in that he has been shot dead.

“Since he went to America three years ago, he has not returned home but was in close touch with me over the phone. My son had promised me that he would return home after two years and had drawn up plans to build a small house for us to stay”, she recalled as she lost her only son.

She added: “I had called him up on Sunday, but he was busy with work and promised to call me back on Monday morning. Before I could get his call, people from our locality conveyed to me the tragic incident of my son being shot dead”.

Chandor Sarpanch Edward D’Silva, who paid a condolence visit to John’s mother on Monday noon, extended all help and support to her in this time of distress.
