A security guard was killed on Thursday morning after an old tree toppled onto a security cabin near a residential colony at Caranzalem.
As per preliminary information shared by the police, the tree collapsed suddenly, crushing the cabin while the guard was inside. The impact left him pinned under the mangled structure.
Police and personnel from the Fire and Emergency Services rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. The guard was extricated from the damaged cabin but was declared dead.
The cause of the tree collapse is yet to be ascertained with the police suspecting weather conditions or decaying of the tree.
