Roadside hawking along the Mungul-Colva road stretch passing through the village came up for discussion along with a host of other issues, including the submerged subway at the gram sabha of the Seraulim village panchayat.
The meeting, chaired by Sarpanch Seema Shanke, saw members raising the issue of illegal hawking and vehicle parking on the road, causing traffic congestion. They demanded that the panchayat initiate action for the removal of the illegal hawkers from the road.
Gram sabha members also raised strong reservations about the move by the Railways to include the numbers of acquired property in Form I&XIV. When the issue of the submerged subway came up for discussion, the Chair informed that the panchayat had written to the district authorities to close the roads to the subway to avoid accidents.
The gram sabha also opposed the Sunburn music festival, not only in South Goa but across the State. The meeting adopted a resolution demanding equal status for Konkani in Roman script.
Gram sabha member Kevin D’Souza drew the Chair’s attention to the floods that have caused huge damage to crops in the jurisdiction of Seraulim village due to insufficient water passage next to the wholesale fish market area. He demanded to know whether any preventive measures have been planned for the future.
He also called for an update on the proposal for the Seraulim Panchayat Ghar, which has been pending for a very long time.
