An extraordinary meeting called by the president of Serula Communidade on Sunday (April 24) got the all-clear from the Administrator of Comunidades (North Zone) who has, however, mandated that the agenda will be restricted to a discussion around the demand for land from the government to build a 20 MLD sewerage treatment plant.
In an order, the Administrator of Comunidades (North Zone) Sagar Gaude, directed that the extraordinary general body be held on Sunday and the only point to be discussed is the procurement of land for the STP in specified survey numbers of the Serula communicate.
Gaude also said, all other agenda items, including the discussion and passing of the budget for 2022-23 and maintenance works of the comunidade premises will be disallowed to be transacted.
"The meeting of the Comunidade of Serula fixed for 24/04/2022 at 10 am is legal. The agenda of the meeting is strictly restricted to the proposal of the land requirement to set up 20 MLD Sewerage Treatment Plant and minutes of the meeting to be drawn as extraordinary meeting of the Communidade of Serula," Gaude said in his order pronounced on Tuesday.
A group of five members of the comunidade, including Purxotam Shirodkar, Peter Martins and Joseph Pinto among others, had challenged the convening of the extraordinary meeting by the president Alex Valerio D'Souza and had also accused him of mismanaging the affairs of the communidade.
Gaude, however, upheld the president's powers to convene the meeting but struck down all other business from the agenda and narrowed down the scope of the meeting to solely discuss the issue of land for the sewerage plant.
