Seven more die; Goa's Covid-19 death toll mounts to 564

PANAJI
The spectre of high mortality continued to dog the State's Covid response machinery as seven more deaths, including that of a 20-year old, were reported on Thursday.

Four of these seven deaths were reported at the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) while Margao's ESI Hospital (2) and Hospicio (One) accounted for three others.

Other than the 20-year-old, all the other six victims on Thursday were reported as being in their late 50s and sixties.

Thus far, the pandemic has claimed 564 lives in Goa in one of the highest per-million population mortality rates among Indian States.

Meanwhile, 247 more people contracted the virus and tested positive according to Thursday's official bulletin issued by the health department. Also, 348 have recovered the bulletin said but as reported earlier by The Goan, the government's daily testing rates have inexplicably lost steam dropping to 1,200 levels.
