Sex racket: Tourism dept issues notice to resort

MAPUSA

The Tourism Department has issued a show cause notice to the owner of Maior Roma resort by Jolly Jolly Lester, Vagator for cancellation of registration of the resort for conducting prostitution activities in it.

Acting on the complaint of the Anjuna Police, the Deputy Director of Tourism has asked Sebastian Lazarus Albuquerque, owner of Maior Roma resort as to why action should not be initiated against him under section 10 (1) of the Goa Registration of Tourist Trade Act, 1982 to cancel the licence.

Further, the owner of the resort has been directed to appear before the deputy director of tourism for personal hearing in the matter on September 26.

It may be recalled, Anjuna Police had conducted a raid in the resort and rescued five women and two accused who were allegedly involved in the international sex trafficking racket last week.

The investigation also revealed that the accused was found to be staying at Maior Roma resort by Jolly Jolly whose owner Sebestian Albuquerque of Vagator had failed to fill the mandatory ‘C’ form of the woman.
