VASCO: Mormugao police on Tuesday ruled out sexual assault on the 7-year-old boy who was found dead in a semi-nude condition and under mysterious conditions in a secluded corner behind a building in Vasco on Monday morning.
Addressing a news conference, DySP Sawant said an autopsy on the body of the boy had revealed that the primary cause of death was due to injuries from a fall.
“A post mortem was conducted on the body and doctors said the cause of death was cranio-celebral damage with lung chest trauma consequent to blunt force impact by surface or object.”
“As per post mortem reports, there is no physical violence and sodomy at all and the death is due to a fall from a height causing brain damage. We are probing as to how he had gone to the terrace of the building and how he had had a fall, leading to his death,” said DySP Sawant.
“There is a building drainage pipe which leads from top to down where the boy was found dead. Midway, we found one orange thread which was on the waist of the boy who had died and it has been confirmed by his mother.”
“As there are scratch injuries, bruises on the stomach and the thighs, it appears that he had fallen and somehow landed on the pipe and got dragged down. Midway, the thread got entangled on the pipe joint and subsequently broke with his weight. While falling down, he hit his head on either sides of the wall," DySP Sawant added.
“There was mud found on his hands which could be from holding the pipe. It appears that he may have clung to a plastic sheet while falling down and that piece of plastic also was found below near the site. The piece of plastic that we found was kind of pulled and we have seen that the plastic on the building was also pulled.”
She added that the police have been probing all angles to know how he had gone on the terrace of the four-storeyed building.
“We have also found the slippers on the other side of the terrace belonging to his mother, which he was wearing. There are many points we are exploring as to how his shorts were in the tank or how his chappals are on the other side of terrace,” said DySP Sawant.
