The South Goa Planning and Development Authority (SGPDA) has said the process to tender the sopo fees from the wholesale fish market has been set in motion by the planning body.
The SGPDA further said that the draft-Outline Development Plan (ODP) for Margao and Ponda has been kept open for public suggestions and objections and the exercise will come to an end by December end.
At the SGPDA meeting chaired by MLA Wilfred D’Sa on Tuesday morning, the planning body discussed a host of issues, including the High Court directions issued last month to tender the wholesale fish market sopo fees.
After the meeting, the PDA Chairman said the process to tender for the collection of sopo fees have been started by the planning body. He said the High Court has issued directions to the SGPDA to float the tender within three months or to take over the collection departmentally.
To a question, MLA D’Sa said the government has approved the SGPDA draft-ODP for the planning areas of Margao and Ponda. “The draft-OPD has been kept open for the public to give their suggestions and objections. The draft-ODP will remain open for the people to submit their suggestions and objections till December end”, he said.
The meeting also discussed the development of the SGPDA commercial plot via a joint venture. Commenting on the matter, the PDA Chairman said the PDA had taken a decision at a previous meeting to develop the commercial plot. He said the PDA has already conducted the survey and a plan has been designed.
"We have called for the real estate developers, who will give their proposals to develop the plot of land, which falls in the Special commercial zone," he added.
The PDA has also decided to go for new office furniture and to install CCTV cameras in the SGPDA office.
The meeting has also decided to implement the Modified Assured Career Progression Scheme (MACPs) for the PDA.
