Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar has said Self Help Groups (SHGs) would soon get a permanent space at the Kadamba Bus stand in Vasco.
Salkar was speaking to reporters after distributing sewing machines to women who successfully completed the tailoring courses.
“We have realised that women take a lot of efforts and make products but they don’t get the place to sell their produce. They sometimes look out for places and I feel that they need to be allotted a permanent place to sell their products,” said Salkar.
“I am in talks with the Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited to allot around 100 sq mtrs for these SHGs as a permanent location to exhibit their products and earn a good income as well. We have a lot of people visiting the bus stands and this will only benefit the SHGs further,” said Salkar.
Commenting on the tailoring courses, Salkar said this scheme has been made available by the State government.
“This scheme will make women self-employed and financially independent as well. We are also having many other courses available for women,” he added.
