PANAJI: Panaji Shigmotsav Samiti is all set to celebrate the festival of Shigmo in Panaji from March 24 to 28.
While the celebration will begin with 'Gulalotsav' at Azad Maidan, Panaji from 9.30 a.m., the float parade consisting of mythological floats, romtamell and folk dance troupes will be held on March 26. The parade will begin at Caculo Island and culminate at Azad Maidan.
"We expect over 100 participants including floats, romtamell and folk dance troupes. Additionally, we only allow mythological floats and no commercial floats", said Samiti President Shrinivas Dempo.
Also, three artistes “ singer and stage artiste Gurudas Naik, folk artiste Vimal Dabholker and tiatrist Thomas Camilo “ will be felicitated on the occasion.
The total prize money for the parade is Rs 6.7 lakh with the major component being sponsored by the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC).
